  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, assemble the layers with frosting in between and on top.

Notes

  • To achieve even layers, level the tops of the cakes with a knife or cake leveler.
  • Use a turntable for easier frosting application.
