  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk, and mix until well combined.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Whip the cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate, top with half the whipped cream and half the strawberries.
  9. Add the second layer of cake and spread the remaining whipped cream on top.
  10. Garnish with the remaining strawberries and serve.
