  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  6. While the shortcakes cool, whip the heavy cream with sugar until soft peaks form.
