Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, and green food coloring.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well blended.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. While the cakes cool, prepare the cheesecake filling by beating cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then fold in heavy cream.
  8. Once the cakes are cool, spread the cheesecake filling between the layers and on top of the cake.
