  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
  8. Arrange cookies on baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. For the glaze, mix confectioners’ sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over cooled cookies.
