  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead a few times, then roll out to 1-inch thickness.
  6. Cut out the shortcakes and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the shortcakes are baking, whip the cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
